Birdlife
Chobe River, Botswana
Canon R5 + Canon EF 500mm f4 lens
At sunset on the Chobe River, I was photographing an African fish eagle perched on a dead tree, aiming to silhouette it against the warm evening sky. An African elephant then began to move through the background. Shooting from a low position on a small boat, I waited and hoped the elephant would move into the open space behind the eagle before the bird was disturbed. For a brief moment, two African icons came together in the frame. Just two seconds later, the eagle took to the wing.
