Description
Photographed on the banks of the Hooghly River in Kolkata, India, this image shows boys moving in and out of the water during a moment of play and daily life. The close framing and direct gaze place the main subject at the centre of the scene, while the backlit water, ferry and other boys in the background provide context. The high-contrast light was used to emphasise the movement, wet skin and reflections across the river. My intention was to capture the energy and immediacy of a fleeting riverbank moment. Camera settings: 1/1000 sec, f/9, ISO 250, 34mm.
