One of my favourite things about photographing foxes is watching the interaction between adults and their cubs. If you know when to expect it, these moments can create incredibly intimate moments, particularly when the young fox looks up at its mother with such trust, curiosity and admiration. I photographed this pair at ground level using a long telephoto lens and a wide aperture (f4) as there were a lot of distractions behind my shot. Also, getting down low helped to create a much more intimate perspective. Knowing what to expect, I waited for the moment when the youngster looked directly up towards the adult, creating a simple connection between the two. I simply stayed still and allowed the behaviour to unfold naturally.
