Description
Created in collaboration with a highly flexible model in my Bristol studio, this image combines controlled studio portraiture with an unusually demanding physical pose. The plinth provides a rigid geometric counterpoint to the curves and diagonals of the body, while directional lighting defines the figure without losing the darker, sculptural character of the series. My intention was to create an image that initially challenges the viewer's understanding of orientation and balance, while still celebrating the strength and control required to create the pose.
