Disko Bay, Greenland
DJI Mavic 3 Pro
Captured from an angled, top-down perspective with a drone flying nearly 100 metres above the water, this giant iceberg in Disko Bay reveals a hidden world of colour and scale. Soft Arctic light allows a smooth transition from the pure white surface through a myriad of luminous blues of the iceberg's face, glowing aqua of the submerged ice and deep blue of the waters below. Seen from above, the iceberg becomes abstract and artistic, its shape merging into patterns of texture and colour. Despite its monumental appearance, this frozen giant is fleeting. Carved by fractures, currents, wind, and meltwater, every contour and shade is unique, existing for only a brief moment before the iceberg is reshaped. This photograph captures a scene that can never be repeated, a temporary sculpture suspended between its formation on the Greenland Ice Sheet and its eventual disappearance into the ocean.
