In Spring, I found a fallen tree trunk which provided a well used perch for birds, foraging to provide food for their fledgelings. At sunrise, this Blackbird momentarily paused to display its catch before flying back to its expectant brood. I positioned my camera to set the trunk against a Cherry tree in blossom, which provided the vivid pink background, with the hedge across which it had fallen, giving the dark contrast for the foreground. Due to the close proximity to their preferred perch, I used auto capture for remote triggering, to avoid disturbing the birds.
